Christie Zehmke began her dance training at Plumb Performing Arts Center when she was 4 years old. Eventually joining the competition team of dancers, she spent almost 8 years competing against some of the nation’s best dancers representing PPAC. Christie was one of the first recipients of the New York City Dance Alliance Foundation sponsored college scholarships in 2011. Radio City and Madison Square Garden Entertainment sponsored her $10,000 scholarship towards the college of her choice. Christie studied Ballet, Modern, and Jazz during her 4 years at The University of Arizona learning from some of most seasoned faculty while training alongside some the nation’s best dancers. During her first year at the University of Arizona, Christie was selected by Art.If.Act Dance Project in Tucson, AZ to travel to China and perform for 1 month touring 18 different cities.
Christie graduated with a BFA in Dance in 2015 and immediately went on to perform for Odyssey Dance Theatre’s tour season of Thriller, Finger Lakes Musical Theatre performance of Oklahoma!, and was in the premier cast of Born To Dance with Princess Cruises. Christie continued her dance training through summer intensives with the Radio City Rockettes, Keigwin + Company, and Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet. She has worked with choreographers and directors such as Al Blackstone, Stephen Schwartz, Kourtni Lind, Dan Levine, Derryl Yeager, and Jen Waldman.
Christie has been on faculty at Studio Z since 2020 and is eager and excited for this transition to take the studio to new heights!
