Kelly Roberts

Kelly Lee Roberts has been teaching at Plumb Performing Arts Center in the Ballet Department since 2001. She will be celebrating her 20th year this season. Kelly has trained under scholarship at the prestigious schools of Milwaukee Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet School and the School of American Ballet. Some of her favorite teachers have been Jean Paul Comelin, Suki Schorer, Meredith Baylis, Alexandra Danilova and Dermot Burke. Kelly performed in Milwaukee Ballet, toured extensively with American Festival Ballet, has danced with Arizona Dance Theater and a decade at Ballet Arizona from 1983-1993 under direction of Jean Paul Comelin.


Her professional dance credits include all of the classics such as Swan Lake, Raymonda, Coppelia, Firebird, Cinderella, Daphnis and Chloe, Sleeping Beauty, Napoli, Who Cares, Valse Fantasy, Carmina Burana, A Midsummer Nights Dream, French Overture, Tarantella, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Mozart’s Requiem, Pas de Six and over 462 performances of the Nutcracker! Kelly also has performed in the Musical Theater Productions of Oklahoma! Die Fledermaus and Carousel. Kelly retired from the stage in 1993 and has taught at many of the valley’s fine Ballet Institutes over the years including ASU Dance Department and the School of Ballet Arizona.


She enjoys teaching the art of ballet to all ages concentrating on solid foundations, pointe work, artistry and acting as well as choreographing full length classical story ballets such as The Little Match Girl, Clara’s Birthday Dream, Vignettes from Phantom of the Opera, Peter and the Wolf, The Nutcracker Act ll, Alice in Wonderland, The Red Shoes Ballet, The Story of Snow White and Rose Red and Mary Poppins.
